De EMU kan op veel manieren worden versterkt

De eurozone heeft de eurocrisis overleefd. Toch heeft deze crisis ook duidelijk gemaakt dat de eurozone serieuze gebreken vertoont. De afgelopen jaren is al veel gebeurd om de eurozone te versterken, maar er is nog veel werk aan de winkel. Verdere versterking van de eurozone is voor een groot deel mogelijk binnen de bestaande wettelijke kaders, door lopende projecten zoals de Bankenunie en de Kapitaalmarktunie af te ronden. Maar er moet ook nog eens kritisch naar het mandaat van de ECB worden gekeken, terwijl de creatie van een EMU-brede safe asset een hoge prioriteit moet krijgen.
