Van Reaganomics tot de eurocrisis: 30 jaren in Maastricht

Het vrije-marktdenken (Reaganomics) als reactie op het falende Keynesiaanse macro-economische beleid bij de oliecrises in de jaren zeventig, heeft geleid tot werkloosheid en inkomensongelijkheid. 'Structurele hervormingen op de arbeidsmarkt' zijn niet meer het goede antwoord. De problemen van de Nederlandse economie zijn balanstekorten bij bankwezen en gezinnen en structureel achterblijvende investeringen. Deze problemen moeten worden opgelost door hervormingen binnen de financiële sector en de huizenmarkt, geflankeerd door een stimulerend Europees begrotingsbeleid. Tevens zijn belangrijke inzichten uit de Keynesiaanse theorie op de achtergrond geraakt bij de ontwikkeling van macro-economische theorievorming in wisselwerking met de opkomst van Reaganomics. Ik bepleit een andere theoretische benadering, die inzichten uit 'behavioural macroeconomics' combineert met 'stock-flow consistent modeling'.
